March Grantee Spotlight: Jewish Family Service

Access to care starts with access to transportation.

Thanks to support from the Escondido Community Foundation, Jewish Family Service of San Diego is helping Escondido seniors get where they need to go — safely and independently — through On The Go, a ride service providing over 1,000 round trips for medical care and essential services.

2026-2027 Grant Cycle

ECF is pleased to announce that our 2026-27 grant cycle is focused on supporting the human-animal bond.

We invite qualified nonprofits serving Escondido residents to submit a Letter of Intent for projects that foster meaningful connections between people and animals.

Research shows that human-animal bonds provide significant therapeutic, developmental and educational benefits for children and adults. These interactions may involve companion, service or therapy animals as well as wildlife conservation programs that create a lasting positive impact on the community.

Community Scholarships

In 2025, San Diego Foundation (SDF) awarded $5.6 million in scholarships to more than 1,400 students, making SDF the largest private non-university scholarship provider in San Diego County.

This scholarship lets you be you.

A scholarship to support LGBTQ+ students (closeted or not), allies and more.

We are passionate about addressing the unique challenges of students who face barriers related to sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Social acceptance, mental health issues, and family rejection may be some of the issues students face, but college affordability doesn’t have to be one of them.
