About the Mural
This mural is a vibrant homage to the charm of Escondido. It shows a seamless blending of natural settings and distinguished points of interest. The main focus is the reimagined landscapes shaped by undulating hills, native landscapes and community landmarks. Notably, the Victorian house in Grape Day Park, the barn on Daley Ranch, the pedestrian bridge and dam at Lake Hodges.
With a nod to the ageless advertisement on orange citrus crates, the word “Wonderland” bursts through the composition. Bold lines and rich bright colors contrast with animal silhouettes and invite passersby to recall and create their own memories brought to them through this engaging illustration.
About the Artist
Taylor DeVille is an artist from North County San Diego known for his contemporary works that explore themes of identity, transformation, and the human experience. His art blends figurative and abstract elements, mixing portraiture with symbolic and surreal imagery. Using expressive color palettes and dynamic compositions, DeVille’s style fuses modern abstraction with traditional portraiture, often incorporating mixed media and varied textures to create depth and complexity.
His works frequently feature fragmented or deconstructed human figures, symbolizing internal struggles or societal issues.
